Your business details and your client's. Include your tax or VAT number if you are registered — leaving it off is the most common reason an invoice gets bounced back.
Add your line items
Describe each item of work with quantity and rate. Specific descriptions get paid faster than a single line reading "consulting".
Set tax and payment terms
Apply your tax rate, choose a due date, and add your bank or payment details. Net 14 gets paid sooner than Net 30, and both beat leaving it unstated.
Download and send
Export the finished invoice, keep a copy for your records, and send it the same day the work is delivered.

A unique invoice number, the issue date, your name and address, your client's name and address, an itemised description of the work, the amount due per line, the total, applicable tax, the payment due date and how to pay. If you are VAT or sales-tax registered, your registration number is required too.
That depends on where you are registered and where your client is, and it is genuinely the part worth asking an accountant about once. The generator lets you set any rate or leave tax off entirely, and add a note such as a reverse-charge statement for cross-border EU work.
Use a sequential scheme with no gaps, such as 2026-001. Most tax authorities require sequence without gaps, and a year prefix makes your records legible at filing time. Never reuse a number, even for a corrected invoice — issue a credit note instead.
No. The invoice is built entirely in your browser and nothing is transmitted. That also means the invoice is not stored for you, so download and file each one before closing the tab.
Net 14 is a reasonable default for freelance work and gets paid noticeably sooner than Net 30. State the due date as an actual date rather than "14 days", note any late fee you intend to charge, and ask for a deposit up front on larger projects.
