Four steps to a result
Set up your sections
Starters, mains, desserts, drinks — or whatever structure your kitchen uses. Section order shapes what guests order more than any other single choice.
Add dishes and prices
Name, description and price for each item. Keep descriptions short and concrete; naming two or three real ingredients sells a dish better than an adjective does.
Choose a layout and typeface
Pick a single or two-column layout and a type pairing that matches the room. A serif reads as traditional, a clean sans as modern — the menu should not contradict the space.
Export and print
Export the finished menu for printing, or as a file you can send to a print shop or publish on your website.

Follow the order of the meal — starters, mains, sides, desserts, drinks — and keep each section to a manageable number of dishes. Too much choice slows decisions and stresses the kitchen. Most guests read the first two and last two items in any section most closely, so place your best margin there.
Research on menu psychology consistently finds that dropping the currency symbol and writing just the number reduces the salience of the price and modestly increases spend. Aligning prices in a right-hand column encourages price-first scanning; setting them just after the description does not.
Fewer than most restaurants run. A long menu means more prep, more waste, more stock and slower service — and it makes guests decide more slowly. A focused menu the kitchen executes consistently beats a long one it executes unevenly.
A4 or US Letter is the practical default for single sheets and inserts, since any printer handles it. A3 folded gives a more substantial four-page menu. Export at print resolution and leave a margin — trimming can shift a few millimetres.
Use a consistent symbol or letter key and define it clearly at the foot of the menu. In the EU, allergen information must be available for all fourteen major allergens, whether on the menu or provided on request with a visible note saying where to ask.
